Yuvraj Singh keen on giving back to society

Amritsar, October 11A recipient of Padma Shri, cricketer Yuvraj Singh is enjoying his retired life and is keen on giving back to society through his cricket centre and philanthropic activities.
Yuvraj Singh inaugurated Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence (YSCE) at Holy Heart Presidency School on Friday. Addressing a gathering full of excited students and staff, he encouraged young minds to work hard, be disciplined and be active in sporting endeavours.He said, “We are offering world-class facilities. I want students to understand that there is no substitute for hard work. Studies and sports should go hand in hand. I would like to advise that sports in any form must be inculcated in students.”
As for his retired life and his love for his 12 number blue Jersey, he said, “My personal life is great after retirement. I spend a lot of time with my family. I manage my personal and professional life due to a disciplined lifestyle. The levels of stress have also reduced. It is good but I miss my jersey. It is part of our body. My life has changed for better after retirement. ”
The legendary left-handed batsman also interacted with students, answered their questions and shared his experience battling cancer.
“My inspiration during illness was to come and play for the nation. It was a difficult phase. Under the banner of Youwecan, we are doing multiple things for the welfare of cancer patients. Giving back to society is on my mind,” added former Indian cricket player.
Students of any school can take admission in the centre. Trained coaches have been hired for budding cricketers.
“YSCE aims to offer world-class facilities to empower budding crickets and uplift stature of the game,” he shared.
The school management felicitated guests. In his address, school principal Vikram Seth said, “The centre, a state-of-the-art indoor sports complex, will provide sports facilities like archery, shooting and billiards, pool and smoker, etc.”
