Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has once again targeted the team management over yo-yo test. Since his retirement earlier this year, the former cricketer has been at loggerheads with BCCI on various issues and the much-debated fitness test seems to be on top of the hit list.

Yuvraj had to bear the effect of yo-yo test many times on his return to the India team after recovering fully from cancer. He was left out of the Indian team in 2017 after their tour to West Indies. While citing reasons, the selectors said that he failed to clear the mandatory yo-yo test.

The fitness test came into force under the regime of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri. Recently, the management has increased the levels to clear the test. Yuvraj Singh, who had to sacrifice his career falling on the wrong side of the yo-yo test, said that things would have been different if Sourav Ganguly was in power.

India’s hero in the 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj said that the newly-elected BCCI President understood the player’s mindset. He also said that the yo-yo test would have never been the reason for exclusion under Ganguly.

“Yes, I maintain that if Sourav would have been there, things would have been different. The yo-yo test (a brainchild of the Virat Kohli-Ravi Shastri regime) couldn’t have been an excuse if a player was performing to keep him out of the reckoning. In Sourav, we have a former cricketer and a very successful captain who understands the needs of the players. I consider him to be a visionary and hope he looks after the state of domestic cricket as well,” Yuvraj told to Gulf News.

Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh is currently in Abu Dhabi to play the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League. He will feature for Maratha Arabians in the third edition of the competition starting from November 15.
